80s NEON

For the NewForm Design Challenge in October 2024, I designed a landing page based on the theme "80s NEON." The goal was to evoke the iconic retro aesthetics of the 1980s while ensuring a functional and engaging user experience.

Problem Statement

The challenge was to create a landing page that captures the bold and vivid spirit of the 80s neon style, without compromising the clarity of information or ease of navigation.

Objective

To design a visually striking landing page that channels the 80s neon vibe while maintaining usability and effectively conveying the content.

Design Process

  1. Research & Inspiration: Sourced visual references from 80s pop culture, such as neon lights, retro graphics, and classic typography.

  2. Moodboard & Concept Development: Developed a moodboard to define the visual language, using bright neon colours, bold fonts, and contrasting elements.

  3. Wireframing & Prototyping: Created wireframes to plan the structure, focusing on a clean and straightforward layout to balance visual impact with easy navigation.

  4. Visual Design: Applied the 80s theme, incorporating glowing neon accents, retro colour palettes, and high-contrast design elements.

  5. Testing & Iteration: Collected user feedback to ensure that the page design was accessible and visually appealing, refining details as needed.

The final landing page successfully embodied the 80s neon aesthetic, featuring bold colours and retro design elements. It effectively engaged users, while maintaining clear messaging and a smooth navigation experience, resulting in positive feedback from both judges and users.
